Hourly & Litigation

I bill for hourly legal work at $200/hr and I require a minimum non-refundable legal retainer of $1500 - $3000. Why non-refundable? In part, opportunity cost. If you hire me this takes away my ability to represent the other side. And then there is the initial case work up. The hardest part of most contested cases is figuring out what is actually going on, what facts are in dispute, what legal issues are presented by the facts and what evidence will be needed by the judge or jury to determine a remedy. Sorting this out often takes a lot of time. So before I start down this road I need to be in the case completely. So I closely define what I am being hired to do and make my initial fee non-refundable. After 25 years of handling litigation cases I've learned to either get in a case all the way or don't get in at all. But once I am in your case I do my best to keep you constantly informed - with email in as close to real time as possible - of how much your lawyer is costing you. I don't what you to be surprised by a big legal bill.

I offer Flat Fees when it is possible to do so. Most of my criminal representation is contracted on a flat fee basis mainly because I know at the beginning who the opposing attorney will be, what the legal issues are and a good idea of what is needed to properly work the case. But even in criminal cases I never know whether a flat fee is possible without a full discussion the facts, issues and evidence.

I work very hard to take you through a legal dispute as fast and smoothly as possible. I believe my office offers good legal representation at a cost effective price. So if you find you need a calm, experienced, fast, "fix-it" lawyer please consider my office.
